Discover the Benefits of Biodiversity

At the Bug Hotel Rewilding Project, we believe that every small action contributes to the larger goal of improving biodiversity in our local communities.

Our project is dedicated to educating the community about the importance of bugs in our ecosystem and how we can support their habitats.

Through engaging workshops and interactive activities, we hope to inspire individuals of all ages to take part in rewilding efforts. We aim to create a thriving environment for pollinators and other beneficial insects.

Together, We Can Each Make An Impact On Local Biodiversity; One Tiny Hotel At A Time.

What Does It Mean to be a Bug Hotel?

Much like a human hotel, these bug hotels are designed to host a microcosm of tiny neighbours; each with their own needs and preferences, but enjoying living side by side.

Our Hotels Aim To Cater To The Needs Of All Bug Tenants.

Bigger Is Not Always Better

Many commercially marketed bug hotels have the best of intentions in mind but are fundamentally flawed - bigger is not better.

Most commercially sold bug houses are quite large and feature multiple sections made of bamboo tubes, wood blocks, pinecones, sticks, etc. usually encased behind wire mesh - making them impossible to clean.

These large homes may work for a season but will quickly deteriorate and become harmful instead of helpful.

Responsible Design Is The Kindest Gift You Can Give To Your Local Pollinators When Designing Your Bug Hotels.

A Clean Bug Hotel is a Healthy Bug Hotel

So many well intentioned people install big and beautiful looking bug hotels -  while aesthetically pleasing, these large structures are often impossible to deconstruct, maintain and clean.

Just like a human hotel, can you imagine how dirty the rooms would become if they never had maid service?

These well intentioned but ill-executed spaces end up harming the bugs that we hoped to help; becoming a breeding ground for unwelcome guests - parasites, mold, fungus and mites.

To Maintain A Healthy And Happy Bug Hotel - Cleanliness Is Key.

The Building Materials of a Good Bug Hotel

Our Bug Hotels are made of Jesmonite - This material is affordable, eco-friendly and easy to duplicate through simple mould making processes, yet durable & porous to prevent mold or moisture problems.

Think Of Our Bug Hotel Models As Starter Hotels -  Perfect To Upgrade With Natural Materials That Promote Habitation While Still Being Easy To Care For And Renew.
